VRay Frame Buffer disappears - Youtube screencaps

Hi Vlado,

I know. This is an old problem. And I thought it was solved.
But, in my last days, I had again this annoying problem :frowning:
3ds max 2013 64 bit UP6 + VRay 2.30.01 (new file from scratch)
With 3ds max Frame buffer, all is ok

See the Youtube video

EDIT: the same problem with Nitrous and DX

Are there any specific steps to reproduce this?

Best regards,
Vlado

Mmm… no. I can send you the file if you want. But I noticed this. When I have this problem, I close 3ds max. I open again and, for some minutes, everything works fine. Than, for no particular reason, after some test rendering, the bug appears again :-/

I don’t think it’s related to the particular file… will keep an eye for it.

Best regards,
Vlado

this is gonna sound wierd, but do you have a logitech mouse driver installed? a few years ago the company i worked for bought 8800 gtx’es on my recommendation, and all the machines with them had this issue, we tried everything, any number of graphics drivers.. i wasnt very popular.. in the end, it was the logitech cordless mouse driver being uninstalled that fixed it.. for who knows what reason. after that everyone was very happy with their gtx’es.

It does it to me, too. Do you use SolidRocks?

Try this:

Click on the V-Ray Frame Buffer on your start bar, so it’s active
Press Alt+Spacebar
Hit ‘M’
Hit the up arrow
Move the mouse to where you want the window to be

Colin: When I click V-Ray Frame Buffer on your start bar ( so it’s active) and Alt+Spacebar, nothing happened.
Bobby: never used SolidRocks
super gnu: my mouse the classic Logitech cable, white mouse ( 5 euro  ) Wi7 Installed for me the driver. I read Compatible mouse HD.

I do today a new scene from scratch: same problem :frowning:
At the start, everything works fine. But after some time, I have again the same problem, I don’t remember exactly when this happen!

Try a non-logitech mouse[quote=“cecofuli, username:cecofuli”]

There’s a few session related things I find with max too - for example after a while, my macroscript recorder just stops working - won’t record any inputs at all. If I run code it’s fine, but it’s not capturing any of my viewport or menu activity. Same thing as the VFB, gotta restart max to get it working again.

In office we have all Logitech mouse =) I will buy a different in the next day.
Yes, I found the same joconnell. Sometime ( and in our last project very often) when we move in some orto view any obj, lights, cameras etc… automatically, 3ds max undo 20-30, or 50 operations!!! O__O
And 3ds max viewport change in, if I remember correctly, directly to VRay camera!!! I must to close 3ds max and open again ( and to redo again the 20-30 or 50 undo operation!)
But I’ve the “sensation” that this problem is related to VRayCamera.
And today our viewport was crazy. In some “User” view all the geometries normals are flipped! But not in Prospective and Camera. In the same 3ds max session. Don’t tell me why!!!
I think 3ds max viewport need a lot of improvement and stability. I want to try with the new Nvidia driver.

I’ve been battling this damn bug for years.

It doesn’t happen if I keep the VRFrameBuffer on a secondary monitor.

Thanks for the tip. Good to know =)

You won’t see anything, just do the steps I outline and see if it works. You move see anything til you move your mouse and then left-click.
