/me likes PRMan and renderman-compatible renderers. For arbitrary output variables, for easy programmable shading, for interplatform support, for extremely fast motion blur and DoF, for it’s subdivision surfaces, for render-time CSG, _very_ easy network rendering, and for many other things.
And dislikes it’s for crappy shadows, slow raytracing and awkward GI.

no need to get personal egz.
you seem to have a little problem with other peoples opinions?
Just being grumpy, and getting tired of constant negativity and whining… It seems that no matter what happes you always find something new to complaing about. Do you like anything about 1.45.70 at all? If VRay is so terrible for your use, why are you still using it?
It´s like americans complain when you critizise their great nation.
No it´s not ALL bad, but its not ALL good either.
I have not used 1.47.x yet.
We don´t change versions in the middle of a project.
You get tired of the negativ critics, i get tired of only positiv feedback of some fanboys, ignoring the flaws.
But i don´t say or think you have to shut up! ![]()
damn it man!! :x …I think we ALL got you point/complains here…they are ALL OVER the forums!..why can’t you focus on the positive issues now??
OFF COURSE “it´s not ALL bad, but its not ALL good either.”
that’s w/ EVERY software package you use…whether it’s Microsoft Word…or the most complex software around!!!
I don’t like to feed this discussion…but I’m REALLY getting tired of reading your constant, repeated negative stabs at this…as people are only trying to make it better.
Since you complain so much, and seem to see only negative things about vray, maybe it has come to a point for you and/or your company to move on and choose a different render.
Because this seems to be frustrationg for you (w/ all the negative things you point out) and it definatly is frustrating for most of us that are simply trying to learn, contribute and help make vray better.
maybe it’s time for ya to switch to a different software, since you can’t seem to see anything positive…just a thought.
paul.
Of course it’s not ALL good, and criticism (preferably constructive) is needed to push a company and their product forward. However, there is a difference between criticism and constant whining. From your posts lately I feel you’ve moved into the latter category. The problem is that whining tends to get tedious, and after a while people begin ignoring it, or blow up like I do and start whining about the whining. I guess what I’m trying to say is that I don’t have a problem with your opinion, but with the way you choose to present it.
And I don’t ignore the flaws either. I can’t afford to as I do 3D for a living, and working with flawed software doesn’t keep me competitive. Getting flaws (bugs, shortcomings) fixed fast, and keeping the product I’ve chosen to invest my time and money in competitive is crucial to my business. I’ve had plenty of problems with previous VRay versions, but I talk to Chaos about them and whenever possible the issues are dealt with very speedily. I guess this amazing service from Peter and Vlado (and I’m not the only one, just listen to what others are saying) is what is making me a little too protective.
In conclusion: the way you choose to present your criticisms clearly isn’t working very well for you, is it? Maybe time to be a little more positive and constructive? Please? …flies, honey, vinegar etc.
Long John, better be quiet!
The forum is ruled by the “Fanboys” who can not accept postings like yours.
Wait like the quiet majority. ![]()
Am I just imagining this or did you bring that up again? Are you so bitter? I find it strange that you even bring something like this up in a forum of this nature. Do you get a thrill from hassling everyone you see on the street during the course of a Long John day or just any Americans?
About two years ago I traveled from one side of the US to the other and up and down one coast. I have to agree with you it is a great nation ![]()

It´s an FACT J_Bug and you have just prove it.
Only an example i think, nothing you have to loose sleep over. ![]()
I’m proving nothing, I am one person with my individual opinion. Yes, facts are good when they are well supported and not just blanket statements. Unnecessary, politically based, comments like Long John likes to make are at the heart of prejudice and will only fuel it’s historical fire.
I love the statements you guys are dropping like bombs…
“no need to get personal”
“nothing you have to loose sleep over”
They remind me of all the graffiti on the bathroom stalls at Al’s in Happy Days. Fonzy would be proud of you two ![]()
It’s as if two practicing psychiatrists who want to help us through this life changing thread   Who should I make the check out to?

I think we feed the trolls too much…
paul.
hi Long John
after your project you should try to switch to the new beta.
it allready is good enough for all usual production things (at last a lot allready have totaly switched, and it works fine also for production).
i hope this will make you a bit more glad of the vray devellopement.
(at last it should do).
and yes, i know, of course we didn´t allready reach the aim of a totaly bugfree 1.5.

Tom
i think brazil will win if they get a irradiance map like :? the 2.0 looks very promising i still like more vray for speed but, hey have u tried brazil demo? the materials shaders are the best also stability… im fearing the silence of the fishes!!!
abut the others i dont think they get brazil /vray in quality
brazil /blizzard, day after tomorrow,hellboy
vray/ onimishua , troy, last samurai
fr = ?
nukleon,
compared to what renders?
and what particular features?
You need to be more spedific.
Me personally i like and use Vray
I also think everyone on this forum is
very knowledgable. They are the
best i have learned a great deal.
thing is…I don’t think there is a “win or loose” render at this point…especially between vray and brazil.
it’s more like what features in eaither one are better for one’s work…if vray’s feature are better for me, I’ll use vray, if Brazil’s features are better for you at this point, then you use brazil.
is as simple as that, IMO.
paul.
yep. i already buyed vray so ill stay whit it i, also like it MUCH more than brazil and the forums are much better

I would like a free T-shirt and Coffee Cup with Vray Advanced and an official Vray Pencil Sharpener with Basic.
Seriously, I would like a coffee cup.
heres what vray needs to do to have essentially what brazil has:
=========
hers what brazil needs to do to have essentially what vray has:
=========================================
Now that could change in the future if the fishies get off their butt and release their shading language and other features that vray afaik, has no intention of implementing…

if you think flames and namecalling is ok when you disagree, then you are a poor life. ![]()
