Vray Physical Camera Ortho

Is it possible to generate an Ortho view from these cameras ?

If I switch to a Standard Max camera I will have to tweak the Color Mapping and lighting solution.

thanks

there was a thread in the wishlist bout the same topic…i ve experienced the need of these even though i agree its contradicting itself!

The wishlist thread basically came down to. No, because by deffinition an Ortho camera is not a physical camera. If it’s just the exposure controls you’re after, you can do that in the color mapping rollout.

One solution that was suggested in the wishlist was a VRay exposure control modifier for max cameras. We’ll see what Vlado decides to do.

Ok, thanks for that.

I can’t imagine it too difficult to replace a max-camera at rendertime with a vrayphysical camera using the settings specified in a vray-max-cam-override panel in vray-render-settings.

Maybe there’s more to it than I can think of though.

what do u mean?
the point is to be able to create an ortographic view without having to tone down either exposere or multipiers…

I mean, you could have a series of default camera settings (maybe copied from a vray-camera in scene) that would be applied at rendertime to a temporary vray-cam that replaces the perspective, max-cam, or orthographic view. You would need a toggle to choose between using the vray-cam lens (ie for a true vrayphisicalcam) or the current view parameters (ie perspective or orthographic) of the current view.

If you replaced an orthographic view with a physical camera it wouldnt be othographic any more.

You could always light without it, although you need much more precise values within your lights/hdri/sun/sky. Pain in the arse, but it works.
