Vray Production and RT are not rendering the same with HDRIs

Hi there,

it’s been few productions now that I have got a lot of problems with matching RT render with Productions Renders.
I don’t have the same renders and it’s a big problem because RT isn’t really usable…

any ideas how this could be ?

I’m using RT cpu because GPU is even worse…

Thanks

Stan

Did you change any of the gamma correction and multiplier parameters of the HDRI? There is a known issue where the RT engine performs the multiplier and gamma corrections in reverse order compared to the production renderer.

Best regards,
Vlado

Did u set up bitmap to be 32 bit in production ? Vray RT as default set it to 32 where as max to 8… This was my case quite a lot of times ;s

Yeah that’s the case, now I’m understanding better…

so If i’m changing something for RT, I have to make the opposite change for the production…
Is there any script that could do that automatically? Where you could press that you are in RT or production and that would list all the HDRI in the scene and perform the reverse multiplier and gamma correction?

Or is there any plans for fixing this ? We use HDRI all the time … :s

Oh ho, I don’t see what you mean but now i’m interested
Could you explain a little further ? Isn’t the VFB in 32bit by default?

its about how max read bitmaps. If u use standard Bitmap file to load ur HDRI, when u open HDRI it give u HDRI details and depth 8/16/32 bit to pick. Max by standard have 8 as far as I remember where as RT 32bit (basically if its HDRI RT will render it as 32 bit unless u tell it differently) the difference could come from that. So just reload ur HDRI and make sure they all in 32 bit mode.

It has nothing to do with VFB

GL

Right!

Thanks to point that out.
I was using the HDRI loader from Vray, I guess that one is in 32bit all the time, isn’t it?

IT should be fine then… Try creating new scene and disabling all gamma changes that u applied - then see if they still are different - a simple render example for us would help a lot so we can advise u more…
