What is the maximum number of threads vray can use?

I’m trying to build a dual AMD Epyc 9654 for rendering, can I use all threads?

I think 72, if my memory is correct.

definitely not 72. my “old” 3990x has 64 cores with HT, so 128 threads.. vray uses them all without issue. id be very surprised if the number wasnt significantly higher.. multi cpu , many core workstations have been around a while. it was a bit of problem when the 2990x came out iirc, but not any more, at least for 128 threads.

edit: wether or not a 384 thread machine would be the most efficient cost/performance wise is another question. thats a very expensive machine.

Sky is the limit.

The current highest score in the benchmark uses 512 threads.

Also, the scaling is pretty linear, doubling the cores almost doubles the performance, just keep in mind that usually higher core counts come with lower clock speed.

Best,
David.

Hello,

The current limitation is 1024 threads but it can be expanded a bit more if needed.

Best regards,
Yavor

I was thinking cores, not threads.

There’s no major distinction between cores and threads in that part of V-Ray.
