Looks a bit like corrupted irradiance map or an irradiance map that doesn’t have data for those areas.
are you getting any UVW mapping warnings ? … or overbright messages?
what version of vray is it ?
I get this problem occasionally. The white splotches are caused by a self-illuminated object (RPC cars so this sometimes) or sometimes by glossy refractions. Hide any suspect objects and re-render until you discover the offending geometry. If its caused by glossy refractions, render without glossy, save the lighting pass, and re-render the glossy in a separate pass.
i get this sometimes from translucent materials
Yep, have always on mind, that V-Ray doesn’t support MAX’s Translucent Shader !

The camera is fixed in the same position when calculating and rendering.
I got several overbright warnings on solid geometry with glossy VRay materials. Usually these warnings don’t cause any trouble.
No self-illuminated objects or RPC content.
That must be it. I use glossy refraction on my curtains for a quick SSS effect. Never had any problems with it before. Could it be the curtains being 2D?
More often then not VRay works flawlessly. It’s one impressive piece of coding and it easily stands out as the most forgiving GI renderer to date. I’m just happy problems like this don’t occur very often.
I use 1.46.15
I retouched the last render instead. I think the 2D objects with glossy refraction caused the problem. Better avoid 2D objects altogether next time. Cheers!
