why apply croping to maps in materials???

Ok this may sound like a dumb questions to some of you, but I find it strange that many suggest to apply that croping script for the maps in mats (sorry don’t remember who wrote it off the top of my head  )
but can someone explain why that has to be done??
it seems like something that should happen automaticle through vray itself if there is that need…

thanks,

paul.

It prevents an spotty bright spot (my own technical term  ) artifact from appearing.

It is neccessry because of a bug in Max and the way bitmaps are handled, Vlado has pinpointed the problem and has a recompiled bitmap plugin that fixes the problem. He has stated that he has contacted discreet but that is the last I have heard.

ok, I didn’t know if it was a vray or a max problem…

thanks!!

paul.
