Whats the word on the street is it a go for max9 and vray 1.5?
I always hesitate to install lest it break something with these windows patches 
I work with XP 64-bit with SP2 and everything runs fine.

Has it sorted out the slow material editor ?
no. Still slow. The newer version of Vray fixes that but its not out yet.
