It must be new money; it is only 14 karate. Great detail. What are your render times?
Hi Bobby, here are some statistics, including render time:
-about 40million polygons plus render instances
-over 250 lights(spherical, ies, and mesh light plus a physical sun/sky for the day light views)
-large use of Vray Fur coupled with Vray Hair material for the carpet. The area was quite large (about 250 square meters of carpet) but thanks to ^Lele^ I've managed to limit the RAM consumption by using the dedicated level of detail feature, amazing!
-I've used C4D R26, Vray6, Marvelous Designer, all modeled by me except for some laser scans
-most textures and shaders created from scratch for this project, I've also used a few metal from my bundle
-tone mapping and post production done 99.9% inside the frame buffer, just some highlights compression, a LUT, and some cryptomatte mask here and there, some white balance when needed
-10 days of work including render time
-about 4/5h per image @4K resolution on an old 8core system
They're a bit grey and empty...needs more gold I think, just to brighten things up
Apart from that they are of course very well done
Thanks
Believe me or not this scene materials should have been much more rich, but the client saw some early render tests with a white override material, he like the images so much that have decided to keep them "simpler".
I did notice the carpet and thought how nicely that was realised...makes all the difference.
For the same client I've worked a lot with carpets, so I've experimented a bit with Fur and Hair shader, I've got interesting results.
Here are a couple tests for other rooms:

Haha, okay.
The carpet close-ups look fantastic! The length of the strands is driven by a map to get the nice embossed look?
The carpets are native hair and fur? Do you have a quantum computer or do you use black magic? Edit: sorry I now read your post explaining it was VrayFur. Still, last time I tried, it was extremely slow. Isn't ForestPack better for this than?

I’m on C4D so we don’t have Forestpack, we do have other scattering solutions but I think Vray fur works perfectly for this and it’s very easy to customize. Vray hair next shader is very fast too, and gives a nice soft look, I’ve tested also other shader setup for this but in the end hair next works better.
I’ve managed to get the whole scene done within 32GB of RAM.
