    Hey Eaton

I watch MK89 just to see the logos. I think they are very well done!

    You're in Cape Town, right?

    Good job!

Thanks Dave Yes I am in Cape Town. Nice to see more Vray users from South Africa did not know there were any others using it down here. I thought I struck gold all on my own.

That’s strange, I think it depends on your scene.
        I have a dual AMD Opteron 1.99GHz, 4gig ram.
Those setting I posted b4 where for the "out door" scenes.I used these for the “robot” scenes. No blur on my reflections and on vary lights.

I think the best thing to do is render a few tests. Render at low resolution like 240x180. use "Built in presets" under "irradiace map" and push your HSph subdivs up from there. Hope this helps.
As I said before I am new to Vray but these setting worked for me.

How did you break apart the logo? Was it all done by hand.. and then animated with reactor or something?

I used Powerbooleans Power Cutter tool to cut my object apart. http://www.npowersoftware.com
I Think if u download the demo they send u a link to a very explanatory video tutorial.
It is an amazing plug-in. And its pretty affordable $295. I use it very often
I used UVunwrap to do the texturing, the gr8 thing about power cutter is that u can map your object and then cut it apart and your texturing will stay in place. I think this is possibly the only plug-in that u can do this with.
For the img above: I used reactor(fracture simulation) for the bigger fragments and the smaller bits r particle flow with a grouped shape instance.
This was a series of stills.

In the more detailed fracture animations I used particle flow and a birth script.
            It is based on this:

              @ Eaton

There are a couple of South Africans lurking on these boards

You should come along to our animation workshop next week Thursday - I'll be doing a demo of Max 8.
