Any info on the rendertimes? How many minutes did VRay render and how many days maxwell?

render times...
well for flash render it was 5 min on dr, but that would be 50 min on single node
as to gi one, its qmc/lc with dome light at 100 subdivisions for noisless shadow, so it was 10 hours on dr, do the math your selves :P
however maxwell one wasnt any better. Maxwell has rendered similar image in 40 hours and it looked like it needed another 60 so...here you goDmitry Vinnik

indeed this is however is equivalent to ppt...so such result is not a surprise. However a part of the slow down in my first plastic - 1 shader which was made of 3 shellacs a big nono...I think if i translate this scene into normal vray mat which is plastic - 2 in my lib, then it will be a ton faster.Dmitry Vinnik

Hi Morbid, first of all: WOW, great renders... surely better than MW.
About that warm feeling, i bet it's the wooden parquet that do the trick moslty
Pls check your pm, i'm really interested in your "in depth" with VladoLighting & Rendering Supervisor

I'm still shocked with the rendertimes. If I would send out a frame this size that needed 100 computer hours to render someone here would probably slice me up and sell my meat in a plastic bag in canada...

well I can tell you that I only allow such render time for a study. In production this is unacceptable, but unlike maxwell vray can do other things to render it faster, one of which would be irmap, the other bake. So if I actually had to render this in animation I would do a different approachDmitry Vinnik

Here is the image that maxwell has rendered after 40 hours.
as you can see, it needs another 40 to get there
And here is also a study that I did to compare maxwell and vray. I have taken a scene from treddi forum where noob users tried to compare vray to maxwell and misurably failed...It is possible to get similar results in vray and maxwell.

whats the setup like in the for the vray example?

well the scene was quite specific, no sun/sky approach, rather plane sky color and emitter for sun. So I just manually matched the emitter intensity and rgb value for sky, used gamma 2.2 and ppt...thats all.Dmitry Vinnik
