Hey Dave. I've been lurking on this thread, until now I've been too stunned to speak! I'll go ahead and echo everyone elses hurrahs -- they're well deserved, and maybe even throw in a couple expletives on top!

But I also wanted to thank you so much for fielding all these questions about your technique, I've definitely gained a lot of insight that will help my firm in our next big animation. Big up to you and your crew!

      Thanks again,
      Shaun

Very impressed about this presentation and the short amount of time it took. I really like the water. Congrats!

          cheers guys.

the waterfalls and streams? There's a couple of small streams with just a simple texure animating the UV offsets to make it scroll, Maksed out by vertex colours in the opacity so it fades away... There were also simple RPC water jets in some of the ponds, other than that all the other water was pretty simple surfaces.

OH and just to clarrify as i think there may be some confusion only one of those vids was done in 7 days... the Auto Logistics city one. The Al Raha project took about 5 weeks.

As for max file sizes. Most of our stuff has a fairly small base scene with lighting and cameras and most other things are in individual xref scenes. This makes it faster to submit jobs to the farm as you are only sending a small file. When it loads up on the farm it obviously takes a while to load the xrefs tho.

IN Al_Raha the precincts had about a 15 meg master file and anywhere from 50 Meg to 150 Meg of Xref scenes to load. When rendering tho the scene would use anywhere between 2 GB and 4 GB of memory, hence the render memory issues.

I work with Dave at Lastpixel. Thanks everyone for their comments on the projects. It's very satisfying for everyone on the team to hear this kind of feedback after all the long hours spent on these projects!

            Cheers,

                        Cheers Nikki,

We've kind fo been hanging around the forums on and off over the last few years but this is the first time we've posted our work to show the community. The response has been great, thanks so much.

As other project are approved and released we'll put them up here.

                        Cheers

                              Stunning

Truely stunning I particularly like the music and sound design very effective. I also love the camerawork on Auto Logisitcs City. It is like a scene from James Bond. I can't believe this is going to be a real place. I'd absolutely die if I could test drive a bunch of cars on that track - a great idea what a blast !!!

                              Great work all round.
