This building will have asphalt shingles and the valleys will just be shingles that overlap so it will not have any valley flashing.

Here are a couple updates. I am not sure if we are going with the higher camera or not. It seems unless we have an elevation you will not see anything but the garages.

      Hi Glorybound,
I saw your webpage and you have some interiors that I've seen them at evermotion Interior DVD, so I assume that you did the model and mapping, etc...did you use Revit for those?
      show me the money!!

What was the architect thinking with this? Those garages pose a security risk for the residents. They should group the garages so the entries are adjacent to each other.

Btw, I looked at your website, on one link you profess your faith and in the slideshow you plagiarize evermotion renderings. I find this to be extremely unethical. I suggest you remove them. It's pathetic and an insult to the community that you pass on such great work as your own.

          Evermotion

I own the evermotion CD's and posted some interiors as samples. I e-mail Evermotion for permission. I am trying to get interior work, but it just isn't a need. The interiors that are modeled by me were not done in Revit.

So Jesus wouldn't have a problem with that? I'm not religious, yet I know it's wrong and unethical. Don't be so naive that just because you bought an evermotion dvd you can do a rendering like that. You're only going to hurt the integrity of your business when a client asks you for a rendering like that and you give them something that doesn't come close to the quality of the evermotion renderings. I call what you're doing, false advertising.

Whoops, probably done with the best intentions but as said above its false advertising and will p*ss alot of people off.
If you want to show a selection of what is possible as far as rendering goes you should show off these samples on a seperate page, not at the top of your main page and stamp COURTESY OF EVERMOTION across them so its obvious they are not yours.
You say you emailed Evermotion for permission, did they actually give it?
The rest of the stuff on your site is really good! Just need to tidy this issue up mate imo.

                    Townhomes

I went down that road and quickly saw the errors in my ways. I am only showing my work and I was showing a couple Evermotion models to show work that I can do, but can't show because they belong to the people I worked for and people I am currently working for. The other images shown are my side projects.

It is tough..... I have been doing this for 20 years and I have a portfolio of a thousand images, but again they belong to the companies I was employed by. The only thing on my site now that isn't mine is the revolving banner that shows Evermotion images, which I will change this weekend. I did email Evermotion about allowing be to show those images as long as I gave them credit.

Come to think about it I will take it down now ~ The only thing showing now is 100% mine. Since I have been pushing my side work the last several months, trying to go solo, I have been very busy and am quickly populating my solo portfolio. When I get some free time I'll produce a couple more interior images, although they'll be fictitious they will be mine.

You're doing the right thing. It's like what my 7th grade teacher said, when you cheat, you're only cheating yourself. False advertising will only lead to confusion and frustration with your clients. You might want to change this too. It's a great thing to qoute, you just need the qoutation marks.

Do they know you do this side work? Ask nicely and the may allow you to out the images on you're website with a copyright/note about the circumstances under which it was completed.

Not a good habit to get into.

Seriously, I know it must be tough in your situation but I imagine there are lots of other people who have been thru the same thing.

Try knock out some interiors of your own, so that you dont need to rely on others peoples work.

Your exterior renders are great, im sure interiors would be good too.. just need to do a few.

That was fast. I think the work that you have up is very good for attracting new work. When I went out on my own almost two years ago, I set up a one year contract with a previous employer doing there renderings for a monthly fee. It was a lot less than what I'm charging now but it allowed me to build my portfolio and keep steady money coming in. If that's not an option for you, just keep on building your portfolio with current personal projects. If you're new stuff is a lot better than you're old stuff, it's better to show quality over quantity.

Good luck with going out on your own. It's important to start off on the right foot.

Yes they are ok with it, but I can't show the work I do for them on my site and I totally respect that. What they are in the process of doing is showing the work I do for them on their site.

I get calls all the time from local architects and if the job is in any way a conflict of interest I turn them away. The agreement my boss and I have is as long as I try to make a connection with the side work I do and them (current employer) it is a win win. I have since gotten them (current employer) several large project due to my side rendering jobs.

I actually moved from Chicago to a small town in upper Minnesota. I took a 50% pay cut and believe me that the cost of living up here isn't any less then Chicago. I think my current employer understands this and allows me to compensate my salary with side work.

I actually wouldn't want to give up either jobs. I get a wide range of experience working for larger companies like I have always worked for, but even these larger companies can't justify a full time illustrator. My position here isn't just illustrations.
