@Sazzle74 - Nice to see another Manc on the forum!

Is this not just lacking gamma correction? Are you working to LWF?

The image looks like the lights are all off. It looks like you could do with some chamfers on edges as well to catch some highlights, I agree with previous post mentioning using max spots as well.

I think is a combinations of a little bit of everything...bad illuminations and materials....use Vray override material for carpet and ceiling, a little bit of ambiental light would be good, decrease displacement, the light blue leather is too glossy, it looks like plastic or metal.
those 3d people work fine when they are a little bit further from the camera, in this shot I'd use cutouts.
        show me the money!!

            Bobby,

Yeah needs a bit of work. Either in vray or PS.

            He is a quick tweak I did....curves,shadow/highlight,exposure.

another thing to keep in mind, is that areas that large with displacement (carpet) is going to capture alot of gi energy which will leave the rest of your image lacking in light. You can only push your pixels so much in photoshop before you get banding and such.

The hilight glossiness of the blue and white center circle might look better on 1, so it does not reflect those big white spots from the lights above so much.

                    Hi Bobby,

I think the PS levels fix DaForce has applied is working well. The plant in the foreground is very distracting IMO (my eye is constantly being drawn to it whenever I'm looking at your rendering).

One thing that really bothers me with this is the plant on the right. I get it - you are trying to do some DOF to help get this rather boring space a little snazzy. But I keep wanting to ... ffppptt..... fpppptttt... like its a feather on a cap that I am wearing and want to.... ffffppptttt... fppppttt.t.. get it out of the way. It also makes me feel (as the viewer) like I am hiding behind the plant in the lobby spying on someone in there. So I am .... fpppt.. looking at the people creating a dialog in my head about them.. rather than looking at the actual space.... fffffpppttt..

i think you basically just need a lot more light in the scene. Adjusting in photoshop is just highlighting the blotching on the ceilings which I've had in the past as well when there isn't enough light bouncing around.

If these are ies lights id use lightcache and maybe even fake it a bit more with additional vray lights to make up for the light lost in the displacement and other areas as mentioned previously. Id consider not using displacement on the carpet or else just reduce the height - it actually kind of looks like grass at the moment!.

has the potential to be quite nice though!

                            Lighting is alot better.

But your AA is messed up now, looks like you used a sharpening filter.. as there are some oddities around your can lights, and bad AA on the wires and on the upper floor overhang.

Also your plant seems to not have its opactiy working. So looks like paper leaves.

Also some really blotch GI down the back area there. Seems like this was just a low quality render tho?

definitely looking better. How big is that wall light there to the left on the stairs? its looks HUGE!!
