  • What would make sense to me would be to have the VrayScatterTexture applied to the scatter object instead of the other way around like it is now. It seems intuitively backwards this way. Often the same materials are used for single instance objects as well, in which case you have to keep flipping the diffuse map between VRS colour slot and the diffuse slot.

    Could it be swapped?

Maybe there should be a flag next to the colour slot "override" that does this, so you can just put vrstexture in there.

        • Ooohh, wicked pretty Percy! The depth of field is nice, but a bit of a killjoy 'cause I'd love to see the distance detail you've got.

            • Too much DOF for my taste. But great nevertheless

              • I know the dof is a bit much, but I liked the look it gave me.

                • Very nice. The DOF gives it a nice painterly feel - like a treatment on a photo though, not illustrative. Well done.

                  • Unbelievable Percy! You should put this scene on turbosquid. I'd pay for it!

                    • heh. I appreciate the sentiment. Unfortunately, it was created with work assets.

                      • Grass in VRayScatter

Here's my attempt at Grass, heavily influenced by the Maxwell version in an earlier post as I have never really got to grips with grass and I needed to create a 'generic' grass scene for inclusion in other scenes that needed expanses of grass when there was no photographic reference available, usually in every case!
Grass was created in Onyx Grass, created x 4 types and proxied, rotated, scaled etc..........

                          • up close its a bit dodgy..

this is me trying to make a mowed lawn, using a mask in vrayscatter to control rotation. There is also a mask to control the texture colour: each grass blade has a texture and I used vraycomptex to add in a vrayscattertexture in obj. color mode, although the variation in colour isn't all that visible in this view.

(i think someone has been playing golf on my nice new lawn!)

                              • Definitely heading in a good direction, but it feels a bit coarse to me. Are the blades a bit too wide maybe? Not sure, but the direction control looks cool.
