My new illustration, rendered in VRay

    And a little story:
Childhood, Christmas time, friends, family, joy, happiness ... and, a new toy on my desk. Toy that will define my life, responsible for such a beautiful experiences from my childhood. Kids imaginary world, lost over time, a glimpse of it left in my head, a glimpse of priceless memory.
But, it wouldn't be such a great experience if it wasn't for my friends... do you guys remember how we spent hours playing games, competing and exploring these new digital frontiers?

I must admit I had Atari ST not Amiga , but my friend had Amiga and it had way better graphics and sound than my ST. So that's the reason why I decided to model Amiga for this illustration, out of respect.

Saw it on CGTalk already! SO great! I loved cannon fodder since it was on the INDEX in germany and wasn't sold in regular stores Great idea and scenario! Technically it is top notch.

    cheers,

Awesome pic, very nice mood! Those were the days I still remember the christmas I got Kings Quest IV and Police Quest 2 on my Amiga 500. I was 8 years old I think, and english classes started 2 years later but that didn't matter, in fact these games taught me the basics of the english language. Magic

        Great render.

I grew up with a PCjr and remember freaking out at Space Quest I at the store.. and then the graphics envy of my buddie's Tandy 1000.

Loved the old Sierra games! Kings Quest, Space Quest, Police Quest. We also played Leisure Suite Larry and the Land of the Lounge Lizards thinking that was going to be the most pornographic game ever. LOL

I had an Atari as well with an external floppy disk drive 5 1/4"(very loud)....at the time i was a hacker, breaking games and writting software in Basic & Assembler and HEX editors(I had a collection of application named "pirate's chest" to do all kind of things with software)......I remember when i sold my first software when i was 11-12, it was a control stock system...good memories!!

                    PsychoSilence, stupendousman_dk's... thanks guys!

yyk ... I had same problem, didn't know English but I loved playing adventure games. And you are right that was the best way to learn new language.

sea2stars, Sawyer ... I see there are a lot of Sierra fans over here. I actually never played Sierra games, but I think it's time to check them out.

jujubee ... oh man, graphic in Dragon's Lair was just wow! And the fact that they did that on floppy disks!

lukx ... it's really funny how many people have same memories of childhood... it looks like I am not so lonely any more

flino2004 ... I only knew Basic and Pascal, but I deeply respected people that knew assembler, I still do. It must be that you guys were made with some special brains.

I can still programming in basic but i don't remember much assembler....do you remember "Logo" ? having a background in software helped a lot later with my Casio PB1000,(portable computer) programing software to calculate structures with only 8kb RAM but really you only can use 4kb , the remaining ram was the hard drive (I still have my casio somewhere in my house)
