The bidirectional path tracer will support DR for the next service pack, if this is what you mean...

I was just wondering if you had any more test images to chat about.

Not much beyond the stuff that we use for testing internally

            great news !

just for info Vraylightselect worked just fine for me until now. just need to change the affect channels value into refract materials in case of using glass

Any more progress on the noise reduction?

              Thanks!

                Dear Vlado,

I've just installed the newest vray version 2.20.03 and tried to use VRayBPTracer in DR mode. But there is no effect. How to setup VRayBPTracer for DR?

                Regards
                Daniel Krüger

Hm, works fine for me. There is nothing specific that you need to do - just set rendering as normal V-Ray DR with the BPTracer helper enabled. Note that you won't see the names of the machines in the buckets like for the regular DR render - but it will render faster.

                  Best regards,
                  Vlado

                    Dear vlado,

I found and tried to use the vraybptracer helper but I get the following error message and max crashes:

"UNHANDELED EXEPTION: Rendering frame Last marker is at /src/vrayrenderer.cpp line 2421: Preparing global light manager"

Meanwhile I solved the problem with activating the vray framebuffer and it renders fine now.

                    Thanks for answering

                      Vlado-

Any chance that you can increase the 60k subdivision limit in a patch, or is there a cap on the way the samples are determined that sets the limit?

                      Thanks

Also I keep forgetting to ask but is there any way to use sss with the pathtracer as it does its initial calculation with the light cache?

                        Thanks

Not for the moment - working on it.

Some more fun with the BDpathTracer. I'm a bit surprised with the variance still left around the teapot.

Looks cool, but what's with the black attachment?

They are caustics seen through glass, so that's somewhat normal. The next major version of V-Ray will deal with this.

Not sure how the second image got attached...But im excited to hear the next rev may make some of the sampling challenges better. Any word on what specifically you are working on?
