        In regards to your proposed benchmark/quality test, I think it's the best idea, however, I suspect that the level of expertise between the two artists will still be the weak link and would likely be up to question no matter what (expertise being varied and somewhat subjective).
        very valid point

            Here is my attempt for a more realistic rendering, with the best quality/rendertime compromise:

            The scene is a bit different because i remade it.
            We can admit we are far away from the first pict posted for fR comparison...

                Nice image.

                Yesterday I had a chance to play with FR stage 1 in a friends office. I must admit the GI is fast, if you know what your doing that is.

                As a personal preference I will stick with Vray - its simple - I know the controls - great support - and the people on this forum are so helpful I feel its one feature that needs to be highlighted - thats how I learnt Vray or should I say still learn Vray.

                    The competition is definitely tighter than ever, but if you enjoy fast AA & fast renders there is still only one choice.

                      I must add FR Stage 1 AA is quite slow.

                          This is my test:
                          A)Skylight
                          Vray = Mult = 1 | mult = 0,5
                          FR = Bounces = 1 | Mult = 1 | mult = 1

                          B)Skylight
                          Vray = Mult = 2 | mult = 1
                          FR = Bounces = 4 | Mult = 2 | mult = 1

                          C)Skylight + directlight
                          Vray = Mult = 1 | mult = 0,5 + VrayShadow
                          FR = Bounces = 1 | Mult = 1 | mult = 1 + FRRaytraceShadow

                            personally, imo. all the vray pics look a teeny bit better. just seems like fR's gi solutions while fast also lose a bit of clarity in that speed. minor discrepancies which the average person might miss, but when comparing renders, one notices.

                            just my 2 cents.

                              I agree, the V-Ray renders have a much better percieved depth the fr stuff looks sort of flat, plus for a good comparison I think you will need to turn up fr's AA a bit, I see a lot of jaggies.
