Can anyone tell me why I don't have access to the "Irradiance map" settings? (in the rendering window).
While comparing my settings with the ones above I found that my Irradiance map settings are grayed out. The only ones that I can change in that area are the "HSph. subdivs", and "Interp. samples".
By the way, are you guys using any Depth of Field here?
Thanks,
Jim

-Open max
-Make a box
-put a vraydisplacement modifier on it
-put a bitmap in the 'map' slot of the modiefier
-check 2d displacement
-hit render
Now play with the settings, try different maps, different objects, different uvw map modifiers,...
Read the manual for more details about the parameters.
Basically you just need a displacement map and put it in the map slot of a vraydispl modifier. It will even work without a map in that slot, vray uses a default noise map if you don't specify a map yourself.

If it's not working at all, it has nothing to do with the settings I think.
I would hide everything in your scene except the thing you want to see displaced. Then try it with a simple bitmap and 2d mapping first. Make sure your object has uvw map coordinates. Maybe the problem is in your object. Make sure you it the same way as in the file you tried it first. Import that file into you problem scene and see if it works there.
Try some logical steps to locate the problem area.
I think you need to post screenies... Or better, a part of your scene so we can try it out.

Just saw the grass test scene on Turbosquid for sale. I guess that's ok as long as the person who actually created the file is the one selling it? Anyway, just thought I'd mention it, heres the link:
