    Re: my test interior

dragon. wow i did not realized that this thread could still be dug down. i forgotten completely about, i think this was the first thread i had here at asgvis. during those days. but lo thanks for diggin this, because these images were just so special to me because of the amount of time i spent on each image, more time than to any images i have given. those were the says were i was so engulf by vray after finding it.

as for yu question dragon. everyone can be capable of doing more than this. the key i think is DEDICATION and not giving up.

as for the rendering, i only use bump with all those texture. at that time displacement is really hard thing to do. so i relied heavily on bump texture.

        Re: my test interior

As for bump my technique is pretty easy. the first most important thing is by having a good bump texture. i usually make my bump texture by converting my diffuse map into black and white (desaturate) in photoshop and then i increase the contrast between white and dark and saved it as bump map. Then in vray, i place my bump map to the bump slot of the same material you are using. (if your are using Vray SR, vary will automatically create a linked map, so open that map and click the small tick box with the name bump and paste the bump map there. depends on my test render, i then play on the multiplier.

i wont advise displacement fot that sofa material though.

dragon, be sure the diffuse material you use in sketchup is the same material you use ro produce your bump map. once you applied thar diffuse map, you dont have to worry about the UV coordinates, because vray will apply the bump using the coordinates of the diffuse map.

in Vray SR is much easier because, it creates an automatic link of that map. so all you have to do is to drop that bump thats it...

                Re: my test interior

ok dragon... let us start from the beginnning.
create a plane, paint your diffuse material in sketchup (adjust the x and y or uv coordinates using sketchup -not vray) once you are satisfied with the map thats it. if you are using Vray for sketchup, you need to create new material_vray linked materials and chosse the diffuse material) if you are using the current vraysr, once you created teh material in sketchup, vray will automatically create a vray linked material for you.

now open the vrayliked material in the material editor(vray) then under there are some tick boxes there right, tick the bump material and load your bump map there. dont touch anyhting.. then hit render voila.

dragon... i dont know which carpet are you talking. if those carpet here, i also used bump texture only on these old image. but i had one before where i actually use nice grass texture and turn it to black and white and put it on the displacement map. by the way, always remember to group the face you want to put displacement, other wise you wont see the effect of displacment.
