Re: New Test IES light This one works perfectly.

Why there's always a spot problem at the top corner?
Anyone can help? is that the light problem or the material problem or the render setting problem? ???

Re: New Test IES light This one works perfectly.

Render settings I'd say. Are you using Irradiance map? Try upping the samples or subdivs. ...or both...

actually, before that if you're using QMC/DMC Sampling, set the adaptive amount to 0.85. Try that first, then try to adjust IR.

        thanks thom2, I use IR+LC
I made subdiv both of them up. So I got this result.
BUT I can't get the effect that andeciuala posted. How sholud set the image? I map it right. Can I get skp file like andeciuala did? Any suggest.

This is the image, there's no spot now.

        I use this map.

But I can't get like this result like andeciuala did before.

What can I say... with sketchup 6 and vray 1.0 used to work just fine...
Now, with the upgrade to 1.5.30 it dosn't anymore...
I get no light at all
          Any ideas?

Re: New Test IES light This one works perfectly.

i think maybe because the new vray the clip has to be applied to both sides of the face but not in the original

              Thanks,
but can you be more specific?

              P.S.
If that's the case, it means that all my previous renders have to be checked and and re rendered...

Re: New Test IES light This one works perfectly.

You have to apply the material to the front and back side of the faces faces.

And yes, scenes made in the original will need extra work when using an version after SR1.0. going from SR1.0 to SR1.5 shouldn't be a problem though.

Re: New Test IES light This one works perfectly.

Actually I did as you described, but the results are always disappointing.
I have noticed that when i run the file the vray 1.05 asks me to upgrade and convert my old scene.
With the old vray, in the scene I had only one material, the lightmap1 material, but with the new vray, in the new material editor there are two materials. One is defaultmaterial having diffuse in a gray color and using as transparency the bitmap LightMap01.png and a second material, lightmap1 which has the LightMap01.png bitmap as a diffuse map and no trasparency (black color) at all.
I have managed to work a solution but I think it is too amateurish...
First I get rid off the defaultmaterial, I keep the lightmap material and I put the LightMap01.png as a transparency and diffuse material.
Then I go back to sketchup's material editor and I reposition and scale the texture image, giving some opacity also.
I really have to say that the results are not even comparable, but at least it creates some kind of atmosphere.
If anyone can help resolve this, I would be much obliged, since my demo version is expiring and I really don't want to go back to Artlantis!!! :-[

I am actually having trouble getting good IES results from the newer version of v-ray as well. Has anyone had sucess with it?...if so, do you think we could see the results and maybea little description of your process...because it seems to me that the process of applying the map is what is causing the problem, but I could be completely wrong?

I dug up the old test scene and did a test render. Dark room with a blue tinted omni light.

Mind you, the scene units where set to meters, and I'd get no lights at all. But when I changed it to millimeters the lights would work again. It's odd, because it was only a change in the display of units, no scale change to the model was made. Might be a bug here.

Ok ill test this out and see what happens. I think a problem that I have may be due to the way I apply the texture. I import the IES image as a texture and then scale in SU it to fit the surface that I apply it to. (Ive tried applying to just the front face, and Ive tried applying it to the front and back and still got poor results.) But then I go into vray and apply the IES material to the transparency setting. Am I missing something or going about it wrong, because I can never really seem to get it to work? I usually end up with a result that acts as if there were no IES plane there and just a light put in a recessed hole. Also ive tried this both using groups and no grouping.

Can't quite get it to work!!

Hi, I downloaded the skp. file and rendered it right away. The pic shows what I got and I don't quite understand why it doesn't work. Can someone please tell me what I've got to do. Thank you in advance,
