I dug up the old test scene and did a test render. Dark room with a blue tinted omni light.

You might have to adjust the light intensity. These things always depend on each induvidual scene. There's no setting that fits all.

Is your sketchup texture scaled to fit the opening? The iris of the texture should be centered and should cover the 6" or 8" opening of your fixture.

yes the texture fits the opening and I put the map on the transparency of the diffuse layer. . . !

@skeedu: i had the same issue. You have to scale this texture in SU material editor, don't edit the texture by right mouse button. That works for me ;D
