Re: Modern Kitchen - Renderings with New Version of Vray

I apologize guys for the delayed response...i am still away on vacation and finally found an opportunity to get online.

40th: First, thanks for the feedback and photoshop tip. That is a great one that I did not know about and will be using from here on out. Also, thanks for the material settings. It is mighty generous of you to contribute all that info and I hope many people see that photoshop one, because it is a great one that I dont think people know about...or maybe it was just me...haha.

The glass is actually a frosted glass material I made from a asgvis downloaded material. I just took a basic glass material and lowered the refraction glosiness to about .7 and lowered the reflection glosiness to about .8 or .75 and made sure I increased the subdivisions to about 20 for the final renderings. We may be talking about the same thing but using a different word, but it was not meant to be etched glass, unless you mean "frosted" by "etched". But thanks for the comments guys. I hope i explained everything well enough.

Re: Modern Kitchen - Renderings with New Version of Vray

        Hi steelers05

Like it a lot.. I think the overal vibe is fantastic.. I have one question about the new vray.... I just posted a problem on this forum about that my render freezes wen I want to render a somewhat large file. 5bm and more.

It freezes up when the render is "setting up thread completion"

I was wondering If you had any of these problems and what kind of IES maps us used for the lights.

        Thanks

Re: Modern Kitchen - Renderings with New Version of Vray

dw: thanks buddy, im glad you like the images. I have had several problems with new version crashing. I cant really pinpoint the exact problems, but a few of my problems occure when using .png transparencies for certain things and large scenes always seem to crash. I also get a lot of crashes when rendering at the max default render size option. I typically end up just selecting the next highest level. But, if you are getting that message still and vray hasnt crashed or given you an error message, just give the program a little bit of time, because I have noticed that it can stick on that portion for a long period of time, but it still ends up rendering. The new version is still very buggy...and I have given up trying to use it commercially for projects. I know they suggest not using it for real projects, but I was dumb and tried anyways and really almost ended up screwing myself. Luckily I worked it out, but it was nerver racking. I really cant wait till they get everything worked out because the upside of the new version is incredible in my opinion.

As for the IES files, they are a bunch I have collected from lighting manufacturers and such. I am away on vacation till thursday, but I can look back at where I found some of them when I get back to the office. You may have some success just google-ing them or looking at some of the larger lighting manufactures.

          Hope this helped

Re: Modern Kitchen - Renderings with New Version of Vray

I mean etched/frosted glass as same I don't know the difference anyway

The issue is, your glass is already blurred but additional field depth etc. makes it way too blurry in 2nd image

I am not the greatest renderer yet but I give good reviews

                  Excellence.
Nice to see you get an ASGvis review for all your hard work. I remember starting to use Podium at the same time as you. You have come a very long way since then. look forward to your next post.

Jon: Thanks buddy. I just commented on ur latest image post and Id say we both have come a long way since the podium days. Part of me feels a bit guilty, because I never use podium anymore and i am rarely ever on their forums lately. I am forever grateful for that software, as it gave me my start in rendering, but all of us artists evolve and vray is just too powerful in comparison. But im glad you liked my work and i am lookinf forward to seeing more of yours as well.

                    Best,
                    Adam

great renderings using the new vray ;D
is this a z-depth channel or a DOF setting?

Re: Modern Kitchen - Renderings with New Version of Vray

thanks art. I apologize for such a delayed response...didnt even realize someone else posted on it. Anyways, the DOF was just some layer manipulating in photoshop..neither a DOF setting or a z-depth approach. Just seperated the layers and used some plugins for the blur effects
