  • Suede Teapot

    I thought the effect was interesting. Used Vray displacement mod w/ a map of noise created in Photoshop.

        Keeps the tea warm, I guess.

        Try it in red, would make it more kinky. But then rubber would be better....

          The settings were pretty simple:

          1200x1200 image in Photoshop, filled 100% black, added 283% noise (uniform, monochromatic), saved as .jpg

          Added map to diffuse slot on a Vray mtl in Max. U/V tiling set to 5. Added Vray displacement modifier. Used the same map in the Vray displacement modifier. 3D mapping, use water level 0.0, kept all other settings the same.

          And voila, a useless teapot!

            Its not useless at all!!!
            It showe dsome good technique that might be applied on any upholstered furniture!!!

            Hey, and what about the UV setting for the teapots UVMAP modifier....have you used it or did you just check generate mapping coords???

              No UVmap modifier used. Just added map in diffuse slot of vray mtl. Didn't check apply mapping coordinates either. I was living on the edge with this one
