I thought this was the best thread to ask about this.
What kind of agreement/client do you sign with clients? Honestly speaking, I sometimes have trouble receiving my money and thought to ask about this to you. Forgive me if I am asking something private, I just think that I need to sign a contract before each job and I don't even know where to find one or prepare one.
I will be very happy if you can help me. Or should I ask about this in a separate theread?

agreement wont help you really guys, todays law is very shorthanded and usually you end up giving your money up because to file a lawsuit, find a good attorney etc... will cost you even more....at least this is the way it goes in Czech :-///
This is what we do:
1. We ask for a signed and stamped order form
2. We send invoice for 50% - 75 % downpayment ...depends on clients bonity
3. We dont put watermarks on previews but we send them in low res and with some compression on
4. With new clients we ask for immediate payment prior to delivery or we settle that we supply images heavily watermarked and remove once payd or once we receive the payment confirmation
5. With reliable long term clients we usually have a very loose policy because we proved that our cooperation works
Having an agreement is nice, but sometimes it takes too long to modify it for a certain job and certain client...therefore we applied the above practice and so far...know on wood...we only had TWO unpaid invoice during 5 years of our existence.Martin

Thanks a lot for immedeate replies
Lukx : I think you are right but the services and needs and responsibliities are same so we can come up with something.
Prateekvishwa: Thanks for the file - I will check it.
Pixelbox: I perfectly understand you and agree. At least it is the same situation in my country as well.
Well what I am after is not exactly a lawyer-ish document but something that defines rights and responsibilities in a general way so you can remind clients when don't comply their promises.for my blog and tutorials:

in that case, you can specify the deadlines and terms and condition within the order form briefly:
1. initial data supply date
2. Comence of works
3. previz date
4. ammends
5. prefinal
6. ammends
7. final
8. extra works + charge for extra works
If you get in conflict with a client, then you can come back to the signed order formMartin

Art?

I hope it will come, just like fashion - people love their mass produced stuff, but more and more people are looking at those small boutique stalls for something that stands out.
I can't believe that we all forget that in every art field, through century, there is only few artists that raise the level or change the vision of such field. 3D are still under technician hands and didn't fall apart from all other art industry for now.
Who's the Picasso of the 3D?
Who's the Rembrant of the 3D?
We decide to take part of the CG market and not to the Art market. We can show our work during an art exhibition, and earn money by selling our job as a masterpiece. It's what all artist does worldwide, but please remember that such artist used their art to send a message and not a commercial add.
Thanks

Yes. Well said! I have taken a break from computer 3D, over the past several months, to concentrate on art. Looking at 3D from an art perspective, I am seeing a lot of bad stuff. Driving into the office this morning I had to witness two job site renderings, from local architects, that were horrendously bad. I see so much promise in an artist, who can use the technology, in architecture. What I am seeing is the CAD TECH pulling a SE ISO, and hitting render. I see architects saying that it's free, so it'l do.
I started off rendering by hand. I loved choosing the correct pencil, and matching it up with the correct paper. I miss that, and one of my goals in 2012 is to return to it.
Anyway, have a great day
