  • how can i illuminate larg scenes with vray

    hi guy ,,
i have a big project (bowling center )
i dont now how to illuminate it coz it too larg space and it took alot of time in the rendering testes ,,
how can i put the lights onto the scene i want indoor lighting
this is the top view of the scene

and this is the lighting setting

    and this is the test

can u help me in this concept plzz

i like to light large indoor scenes with self-illuminated objects at the ceiling, its faster than having a lot of lights.
you will loose some shadow detail, so you can use an extra light for foreground objects in order to lock them to the ground.

its a bit of a cheat but you can have one very large vray light half way between your floor and ceiling and have it at a very low level e.g 0.5 or lower then have your normal light as they would be..... works great for me.

glad to hear I'm not the only one using large VRaylights and self-illuminated objects..

          example:

[self-illuminated objects only + 1 direct = very fast rendertimes! VRay rulez when using this method]

I use large self-illuminated boxes checking "invisible to cam" Simple but effective. Placing them is the tricky part, you dont want any collisions or extreme bright areas.

              1 direct for the sun.

              Cheers!

I dont think it looks too bad. Its a good start to a good uniform lighting approach. Add some more direct lighting where its needed and I think itll come out nice.

try to play with gamma ( 1,5 1.8 ) for your general lightning

and this is the test image ,, i think it is more usable but it need more tweaking coz i had over saturated areaies and when i put the cieling mesh it coused some pionts of over brieght ,, the quetion is how can i control with this boxes lighting ,,,
so sorry for my bad english

                            another try

                            hi
this is another try with box self illuminated
i used one larg box to cover all the scene ,, to go far away from brighten areaes on the cielng ,, and i make for defuse an output white color
                            and this is the result
but ADv. there is no over bright areaies , the scene has anice lighten
disadv. .. i lost the shadows ,, i had abad look for the cieling ,,, some saturated areaies on the wooden graund
whats ur advice on this shit ,,

You need some more direct lighting to create some good shadows, which will help anchor those chairs to the floor.
