sweetness, it worked! Is this were I can 1/2 size the IRR and use it on the final?

too much of the same wood.... IMO, but that is what the architect requested.

yeah. and use vmc to switch off reflections too. you'll notice it goes by incredibly fast after that so you can just bang it right up to high and use 160/80 for the settings.

doesn't the global override turn off the reflection just the same?

if you want to lower the resolution of the IR map lower the max rate. i generally have my max rate at -1 but for really high res renders -2 or maybe even -3. then the min rate 2 or 3 values lower, for example max -1 min -3 like the medium preset.

It also turns off refraction, which means any glass objects come out black and whatever is behind them gets no samples. I wish they'd been split really. If you dont have glass objects (including little decorations) you can use the global one. This will also affect art behind glass which i think you have in your scene.

where in VMC can you turn off reflections? I see color, but that's not it.

Gotcha! Do I need to uncheck glossy reflections in the global settings then?

only if you have glossy refraction on something too. i usually have a small bit so i turn that off too.

Bobby, i think you need another layer of reflection with less glossiness for the wood and the wood color if a little pinkish I think if you have a little yellow tint would look better.

How about displacement? Can you globally disable that for the IRR pre-calc?

Do I have to do a final render for the pre-IRR map? It would seem that the IRR map is created for the final render, so the first render is a waste.
