I did add a slight sharpen filter, but it was slight. I agree about the outside image; it almost looks like the glass is dirty.

I couldn't get this scene to render in less than 9hrs. I have tried everything, all the tricks of the trade, but nothing helped. Unless I cranked settings up, the noise was extreme, especially in the shadow areas. I even tried the universal, but that took 11 hours. Now, having said that, I converted it to a Corona scene and in an hour I got pretty decent results. What am I doing wrong?
Here, are the 1hr Corona renders and below that is the MAX file, without textures.

I did turn off DOF for the last ones I did in V-Ray. I am uploading the textures now and will post once they are ready.Originally posted by joconnell View PostNo dof in the corona renders?
The file is less useful without the textures since they'll have such a big effect on what the renderer has to sample too!Bobby Parker

Now, this model isn't how I rendered it in V-Ray. I was starting the lighting over prior to wanting to see how Corona handled the scene. So, the scene is how I left it, mid-way through starting the lighting over.Bobby Parker

Hey Bobby. I had a quick look at the scene and got a clean result with some tweaking:
http://we.tl/xcZpZUg9Sw
I'm not sure what render time you will get but on my system this frame at 4k would take 3-4 hours. Now on xeon x5650 it would probably be doble. Check it out maybe it will be helpful. I think the few issues I saw were:
1 - your bg card plane was emitting gi - this is generally not a good idea it will create a ton of noise. If you really want to use it you should blur the bg image a lot and use that for gi emission. I turned it off it didn't do much.
2 - using dome light in interior is not the best idea. Tracing dome light through windows is a complex task for the renderer especially when it had hdr in it.
3 - portal lights I think they only work with irmap (I could be mistaken here) but that was my impression. Using them with brute force has not speed gain.
4 - I ended up turning off dome light and using your hdr in GI section for gi/reflection/refraciton/
5 - The door window glass was actually split into 2 different single sided planes rather then a shell so that might have caused some problems with refractive caustics etc.Dmitry Vinnik

I ended up trying BF, but I was using IRR. I'll try the HDRi in the V-Ray reflection/refraction. I did continue to work on it and so far, pretty clean, within an hour. The strange thing is I don't know Corona, and I didn't change any settings at all, and it just turned out pretty good. I'll check out your file, thanks a ton!Originally posted by Morbid Angel View PostHey Bobby. I had a quick look at the scene and got a clean result with some tweaking:

I am trying your scene, but I changed to IRR low/100-50 and changed the output to 4k, which is the final delivery.Bobby Parker
