Not my favorite project, but it turned out better than I thought it would. I am not sure about the evening shot, but the day time works for me.

I would put the people looking at different places.... when you have people an animals facing the camera look very unnatural.

Really, only the couple crossing the road and kid running towards the corner are looking towards the camera, and the dog in the courtyard shot. I am a little burnt out on this project, so unless I have too, I am not rendering it again.

One thing that I still find very frustrating is not being able to comp a sky into the background. Unless I am doing something wrong, it just doesn't work. I tried a black background and a layer -> defringe in PS, but that doesn't do it either. Using V-Ray's Alpha gives me a huge 2-3 pixel halo.

This is a screen grab. I have an HDRI set invisible and the same HDRI in the Environment slot. I don't think the halo could get worse.

try white.... I got those halos too but to be honest I haven't tried in a while to modify the background.... I change the gamma and intensity of the HDRI until I think is working well

Try layer > remove black matte instead
(or white, if you rendered with a bright HDRI)

Yes, that's what I have been trying and it's not working. I am wondering if it's something t do with PSD Manager, which is creating my PSD.

I usually render out on black with environment overrides or invisibe HDRI's but in PS instead of cutting out the background from the beauty pass, I use the alpha to cut out the new sky and put this over the beauty pass. I never have a problem working this way, no halos, no fringing. Of course, knowing how well PS handles premultiplied alphas I know it's not 100% correct but it looks just fine and no one ever questions it.
                    www.dpict3d.com - "That's a very nice rendering, Dave. I think you've improved a great deal." - HAL9000... At least I have one fan.

I have tried the alpha mask, but it's not good. I am thinking it has something to do with the premultiplier in PSD Manager; there are some options there.
