I am trying to create a very basic animation through an interior space, just a camera moving. I followed the "typical" setup, using IM and LC. but the quality is just not there. What would be causing the lack of quality?

    Thanks, guys.

For what it's worth, I downloaded the file to my desktop and it looked pretty nice to me. Previewing it directly from the Dropbox page, it looked really bad - way too much compression, but that's nothing you can control - you'd be better served by posting the video to YouTube as 'Unlisted', then sharing a link with the client. When you say the 'quality is just not there', are you referring to the lighting quality?

LOL - I didn't study the image closely enough - I thought that was some kind of mosaic looking wallpaper.

I never got lucky with animations using IM+LC. They will cause flickering if you are not good enough. Use brute force, slower but safe.

            Hey Alex,
There is no need in the latest build to go into IM, brute force will solve most of your issues with flickering and splotches etc.

Make BF + LC setup. In LC put 3000 subdivs and retrace to 8, follow camera path and set up mode to flythrough. That should be it, nice smooth clean anim.

            let me know

Thanks guys for all your feedback. I am trying BF + LC now. Problem is frames are taking 30 min! way to too long. Do you think if I changed from Bucket to Progressive that would work?

Well I have spent a good portion of today working on this and I think I am more confused than ever . I have enclosed my settings and a very short animation) as you can see its much better but its still a bit noisy and flickering esp near the lights over the bar. Good news is the frames are not taking a crazy amount of time ( roughly about 14min a frame ).
Not sure what settings to change to clean it up. I am also using the denoiser with this.

                Thanks

Max subdivisions on 100 is from some very old methods, bring it down to 4 or 6 and raise the minimum shading rate to remove noise.
Noise threshold is weird too, leave that on default.

Just revert everything to defaults, set the LC subdivs to 3000 and retrace to 8. Nothing else. There is no need for world-size light cache samples and fly-through mode; in fact this will probably make you scene render slower. Interpolation samples at 40 is way too high and will slow down rendering considerably.

All in all, a very educational example of why we should remove these options from the UI completely

I am all for removing (or hiding) legacy stuff that is no longer relevant to today's workflows. Bit of spring cleaning is in order

                            Hi Guys,

Sorry, it been a bit crazy work schedule just getting back to you on this. Thanks so much for the tips. It defiantly helped. Got the frames down to a manageable 6-7 min per frame. Thanks Chris for the offer I really appreciate that, sorry I didn't see it till just now.
Here is the updated animation file still not perfect but much better then before.
