Can someone do a 800x600 render that goes to 2500 samples? I'd like to compare final image quality to iray. TIA.

Just for fun, a node with a 3 years old 9800GTX with 512 GB RAM = 17min 43 sec XDLast edited by cecofuli; 04-01-2011, 09:12 AM.

No one has done the test with the Quadro 4000?
I have this card, but the test scene is not ready for 3dsmax 2009.
Regards.

Thanks for the contribution Jow.
Here is probably the best videocard comparison that is constantly updated. The raw power of the vidcard should translate to V-Ray RT render strength as well, at least for NVidia cards:

It also shows why the leader is someone who is piling up GTX460 cards. The GTX 560 will be released this month, and is supposed to be ~25% faster than the GTX 460, in the $250-$300 rangeLast edited by scottsch; 09-01-2011, 10:47 AM.

some results from me
Quadro 600 - 28 m 51 s
Quadro 2000 - 14 m 28 s
Quadro 4000 - 8 m 20 s
2x Quadro 4000 - 4 m 11 s
GTX 470 258.96 - 3 m 55 s
GTX 470 259,81 - 3 m 58 s
GTX 570 - 3 m 35 s
2x GTX 570 - 1 m 48 s
3x GTX 570* - 1 m 17 s
*attention.. the third slot is JUST pic-e 4x (in slot 16x) and i think this provoke this "slow" result (i think with third pci-e 16x full speed slot the result will be under 1 min.. but will check this soon)
cheers

So here are some benchmarks with the GTX 460, and the GTX 560, and both boards together.
The 560 requires the newest drivers. For those interested, I could not get a compile with the 266.58 drivers and V-Ray crashed, so go ahead and use the 266.66 drivers, which do in fact compile and do not crash V-Ray...at least not here.
The machine is a i7/960 3.2GHz Intel MB with with a couple of PCI-e x16 slots.
So, first the 460 with the older drivers:
GTX 460 - 336 cores - 700Mhz core clock - 258.96 drivers - 6min, 41sec
Now we add the 560 to the mix, and of course we have to install the 266.66 drivers first.
GTX 460 - 336 cores - 700Mhz core clock - 266.66 drivers - 7 min, 25 sec
GTX 560 - 384 cores - 822Mhz core clock - 266.66 drivers - 5 min, 38 sec
Both boards together ------720 cores----- 266.66 drivers - 3 min, 13 sec
Summary:
Clearly, you can see by the 460's numbers that the newer drivers are slower by just about 20%, which is substantial. I do hope they can get the performance back to where it was and I hope they do it soon. If they do it, I'd like to see both boards do this benchmark in something like 2:45.

1mn39
1x 480GTX on pci x8 + 1x 580GTX on pci x16
I will try later with adding an Xpander with 2 580GTX ( when i receive it )
I hope much about this xpander and VRAY RT Gpu . some white dots on the render need to being corrected to make this renderer competitive with Arion and Iray
