Ok, so a newer version of my favorite software is available to everyone except me and a few other license holders, my question is: Is it ethical to download the newer version and use it, my license includes versions beyond this one that is available and many other license holders have been granted access to this version, so what are the ethics?

It's terrible this has happened as I feel we (the registered forum members and developers) have all contributed in some way to the quality of the upcoming release. I think there is a post which said a newer version would be made available soon. I don't know what the status is on that, but I would just wait until an official version is released which would have newer features and bugs which have been addressed.

As a side-note, Ehsan keeps pm'ing members here about stuff - is there any way we can lock this feature to non-registered members?

But to answer your question...I don't know. Understandable, yes. But is who you would be getting it from ethical? I don't think so. If Vlado's group wanted everyone to have it, they would have posted it already. So they must have their reasons for it, and even though we all want the latest build, I think we should support their decisions as much as possible.

Oh my God! That forum needs to be shut down ASAP.

It has tones of stuff from developers up on it. Now one thing I think everyone out there is missing is that whether it is a big firm or a small firm the developers have invested a tonne of time and money in these applications/media collections and by stealing them you are directly hurting those that created these applications.

For example I am thinking about creating some texture collections, however, I would have to take out a loan, that would be quite substantial for me and my family, and work for several months, unpaid, to create what I want to create to make avaliable to the 3D community. Seeing this kind of thing really makes me question whether I would make any money at it as people will just steal my work that I have slaved over. I'll be stuck with a loan, no income, totally ripped off and endanger my family financially! Not good

I have reported these idiots through the Autodesk forum and will call Autodesk tomorrow. I am also contacting Turbosquid and the maker of Polyboost. I am soooo disgusted right now! ERRRRRRRR!

Sorry for the rant, but it really hurts to see this kind of thing! It hurts all of us that are honest in this industry, badly!

I think we need to tell all those developers effected by these idiots to go after them and shut them down. If I could I would in a second!

I really feel for the small or one man shop developers in particuler because their investment to profit margin is so great and they may be relying on the income for food, rent and loan payments!

This is the problem with an open Beta test stage .. it will find its way into the open market. Its a shame because this will affect all beta releases in the furture as being closed Beta.
