Unfortunately, it doesnt mean we will be able to use vray primitives either.

What does that mean exactly as far as vray is concerned? Does it mean we won't need to use the Geometry mode?
I'm pretty sure it doesn't. But, man not being scared shitless of geometry mode is a good thing

A strange thing about the new workflow, which involves styling directly inside max viewport, is that it's not really used by pros. As i see in a dvd we purchased from a blur character modeler, they use splines to create the overall shape of the hair instead of trying to comb it extensively. I wonder if you can precisely style it using only the rather unaccurate mouse pulling and pushing method...
Although in the dvd hairfx was used, i tried the same spline guides method with hairandfur and worked very well.

i believe you do have comb by splines, and the option to choose if and how to interpolate between guides, but i might be mistaken...

                    Hair shmair!

I just cut my own hair off; or if I need another colour, head down to the local mall and start guerilla snipping. Anyway I tape it to the screen and it looks pretty realistic to me!

If I need another style, hairspray and comb works great! I have yet to figure animation out though. This is under heavy RND!

                    • I worked all afternoon . . . blood, swet, and tears I tell you, and have come up with the perfect dynamics simulation for my hair "plug-in" for Max, or, as I like to call it, a "tape-on".

Everyone hold there breath! A fan. It has amazing accuracy and 3 speeds: slow, medium, and hurricane!

Now for the animation part . . .

I think once I get this resolved I will try and sell this innovative solution to Autodesk.

                      Think they'll buy?
