    Hi
I'm quite interested in the sandbox editor. I've seen some examples of architectural walkthroughs made with it (i think it was a belgian studio) and I was blown away by the quality and dynamic lighting.
So I'd like to know if I have to buy the game to use the editor, or if the one included in the demo has all the features ?

        I found it has bugs.
        Or some features are missing.
For instance, not all the game models are present.
Some things do work properly, though: i put a few dozen korean soldiers on a beach (yes, a few dozens...) and one alien.
Further into the bushes, i put a few weapons (including the alien freezer one) and ammos, and started the game.
Well, it turns out that as long as i am hidden, the alien will attack the koreans and they will respond in tune.
Quite funny to see them scramble for cover in the trees.
When i started using the freezer weapon, though, i didn't see them getting frozen.
I DID get frozen by the alien alright, though, and it's nice to have to wiggle the mouse to unfreeze.
Also, when i create a new level, and do as told in the (online) manual to generate a texture for the terrain, i get a perfectly featureless, white thing covering the ground.
Tree planting, though, works a charme.

I knew someone would mention the white terrain thing.

See the links i posted regarding the editor. There is many a discussion about including how to fix/workaround it

Well if the demo lacks some models of scary aliens or weapons it is ok for me I'll give it a try then.

              http://digitalurban.blogspot.com/sea...Game%20Engines

about halfway down the page are a couple of videos using crysis2 engine. look pretty decent. There's also a couple decent videos using the halflife2 engine.

Still looking for an application for this though that isn't a gimmicky toy.

so I've dug in forums a bit, turns out you can totally make crysis run in dx10 under winxp, and there is no need for vista. Its all just corporate marketing bs.
If anyone is interested I can post the link to mod.

                    Been there ... done that.

Simple CFG swap gives you the full DX10 features.

                        Ahhh nice

Make sure its a Q6600 G0 stepping (they are the best for overclocking)

I have tried to overclock mine to 3.6 and its 95% stable.. just need to tweak a little more.

                        What motherboard did you get?

Yeah great heatsink.. same as what i have. Dont forget to use arctic silver 5. And apply it as per the instructions on the website.

That mobo should be great for overclocking!!

Yeah you need to isntall a dvd/cd its easier.
Just "borrow" a drive from another machine

Got to spend some time with sandbox today, by far the coolest editor I have ever worked with. I think I'll spend more time in it than the actual game

Today I imported a huge pretty lowres chunk of USGS (maybe 100 sq miles) and applied a 2k texture of the satellite image of a developement we are working on. Pretty cool to jump in a truck and drive around the work site. I'll post some screen caps tomorrow.

If anyone is interested in getting stuff out of max and into sandbox here is what you need. http://www.crymod.com/thread.php?threadid=9514
