Great stuff. Will really help lighting and materialising. Just curious as to what machine was used in the test?

Any other surprises in store for us Vlado?

There will be more indepth information soon, but for now:

The machine was a dual quad-core (so 8 cores in total); however the current state is an early alpha and its speed is not really indicative for that of the final.

This fully supports DR (in fact, it only works through DR to the standalone version of V-Ray, even when rendering locally), so for more complicated scenes you can easily get extra performace simply by adding more render servers.

      Best regards,
      Vlado

Yes will this be a free upgrade from 1.5 or will we have to spend another $999 per workstation?

This has nothing to do with the regular V-Ray version, the next update for which will be free (SP2). The interactive renderer is still in development, so it's a bit early to talk about pricing yet.

              Best regards,
              Vlado

oh ok so this thing will be an extra piece of software that will run on top of the regular VRay?
                Kind Regards,

Cannot actually believe that someone asks whether this will be a free upgrade....as if we did not get enough things to play with for free in all those upgrades through time vray is out!!!!

even if this costs another 1000 bucks, i am on it ....BRING IT ON Vlado.......))))
Much more worth than spending money on Max subscription!!!!!!

You know, when I made my post I had a funny feeling Vlado would pop in with something like this.

Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't mind spending some money on it either (actually, my boss will pay for it )
But the movies make it seem like it'll be implemented in the next build, so I can understand the questions. I, for one, never had the idea it would be a standalone feature.
