Yesterday I just signed 38 houses at $1400 a house.

$350 a house, you are selling yourself short. So, basically, you work a 40 hour week and stay right above the poverty level.

Depends how you think about it. If I can make the 4 houses in one week, that's 1400$ for a week before taxes. That's way above poverty level.
But it obvisously depends of the complexity of the house. But 1400$, even for a very complex house, is a very sweet pricetag

Four houses in a week, at least for me, is really, really rushing things. It'll take me a week to do one house. It might take me a couple days, but after comments and revisions, it usually fills a week. I think people still have a fear of working on-line. I have had many sub-contractors flake on me and so did my clients. Many go cheap and regret it and are willing to pay for the peace of mind of someone that they can trust. Most of my clients come with a budget and my prices line up nicely. For a single house, most are willing to pay $1200-$1,400 and up. A commercial mixed unit will have a budget around $5000, which is an exterior, kitchen, living room and bathroom.

The biggest problem our industry has is people willing to sell out and work for pennies.

everything is relative....location, location, location....if somebody in UK reaches somebody in India, china, etc of course they are not going to pay full price what they would pay in UK...so, no surprises there.
On the other hand, 1,400 per home is low to me for even one view and if the houses don't share assets.....I'm rejecting one view projects so I send back an offer of minimum 3 views...most of the time they take them.

I was waiting for that. Often I am told that I need to raise my rates. It's the wild west out there. I have had potential clients tell me that they thought it would be more and some didn't think it was so much. This is when I started ignoring these posts and started charging what I thought was fair.

if you worked with them before and you know how difficult or easy are they maybe fine...sending files back and forward with very stupid changes is a nightmare..... I have a very old client and they send me small changes every time I sent the final view....ridiculous ones to charge them but enough to re - render everything... So I sent them an ultimatum with an invoice attached with all those extras and now everything is working very well and easy....tough love one in a while works...and no more one view jobs!!!

I agree that the price change as per location, dont know about china but $50 is way too low even for India.. It is not just surprising but shocking aswell for me as i dont know even single such person my circle who will agree to spend even few hours for this fee!

consider that many people feel that something that costs very little is worth very little and the opposite is also true.

We have to earn what makes sense. I want to get up and look forward to working; look forward to creating something awesome my clients can use to make their money. How miserable would I be to work on a project that I wasn't making any money on? I would be miserable and so would my client. I would continue to get good paying projects and he wouldn't have any priority. He would get exactly what he paid for, which is a rushed job without any passion and that's not what I want to do for a living. You have no skin in the game, so why would you work for less so he can build a business? The whole thing makes absolutely no sense and he should be ashamed and you should be offended.
