Just installed Windows 10 and having some issues with licensing. I can render using normal V-Ray fine either locally or using DR or backburner. But when I try and render using RT it comes up saying could not initialize renderer (no license)? If I switch back to standard renderer I then get could not obtain a license (-9. If I try and terminate the V-Ray license and reload nothing loads and then after about 30 seconds I get a WibuKey error. One of the following licenses are required: xxx Failed reason: WibuKey API error occurred (Error 1!

I must reboot to get the license working again.

I wondered if this is the issue you experienced?

    Thanks!

OK everything working now which is a bit random as it didn't work the first 10 times I tried it. I will keep an eye and see if the issue comes up again.

@jamescutler: I don't know if you have done this yet or not, but I believe you will need updated WIBU drivers for the dongle for windows 10. I believe that is what I needed to do...but it's been a few months now and I don't remember exactly. But check it out just to be safe.

The latest WIBU driver appears to have done the trick, thanks. The issue occurred a few times after I last posted but since the update, so far so good. Certainly worth doing if considering to update to Windows 10.

That's great! Glad you got it sorted.

I just "upgraded" a machine at the office to see what kind of issues I can expect on a machine that has been upgraded instead of installed from scratch.

I just did an "upgrade" as well on a laptop I don't care about to see how it performed. It was a win7 machine. I ran it as a slave and found backburner runs fine and vray works fine. I can't find any issues so far. Other than sitting down and turning off all of the settings that send information out (which are basically the same as win8 as far as I can tell) it's no chore at all. Win10 installed easily and quickly.
I am going to wait a bit to install it on other machines but so far so good.

After a week I have had a few issues.

                1) V-Ray license would stop working mid rendering animation. Turns out the WIBU key was at fault. A simple WIBU key driver update solved the issue.

                2) Desktop wallpaper keeps disappearing and going black when minimizing apps. Not sure on this one as I put it back to what is was before and its fine but I have done this 5 or 6 times now.

                3) the MultiTexture plugin will not work on the render node. If its in the plugins folder, backburner server wont render and says there's an error loading the DLL. Even if MultiTexture is not used in the scene. MultiTexture works fine on other workstations though. Go figure.

                4) I occasionally get pop ups saying I don't have permission when editing files, so there must be a new level of security I need to sort out. Didn't happen in Windows 7.

                5) Windows added a monitor profile which causes Photoshop to not display correct colours. I normally remove this profile so the monitor matches V-Ray. This works as expected but for some reason in Windows 10, without the monitor profile, PNG's display very bright in picture viewer, unless I go full screen and they look correct.

                6) Not really an issue but in order for Cortana to work, all your language packs must be set to the same one. Took a while to figure that out. Now I can open 3ds Max without a click. Shame it cant do my work for me.

                7) The render node got stuck on install, setting up the desktop. It said this is taking longer than expected but should be done soon. After 24 hours I restarted and I was presented with a half installed OS. I had to download the ISO and install it that way. It was done in 15 minutes as was all the other computers I installed it on.

                Other than that its alright...

No issues here, however I am just running one machine. Well, I guess I had one issue. One of my PS plugins had to be re-activated.

Depending on the activation method used by the software, re-activation may be needed for them. Just as FYI.

It went swimmingly on my laptop, which I use hardly ever. Maybe I was just one of the unlucky ones.

well thats not good lol, that makes me feel confident in sticking with Win 8.1 haha. Nothing I hate more than mandatory updates when they kick in when Im rendering and delay the job.

I have yet to have Windows 10 (or any other windows version) reboot or update without my permission. In my 4-5 months with Windows 10, it has not once rebooted without me letting it. I have it setup to do nothing until I tell it to. It's worked great for me so far.

All the machines in my office running Win 8.1 were updated the very first day windows 10 was released and those people thank me daily for the update! It's a really solid upgrade from Win 8. The windows 7 machines will probably wait a little longer until our slow period before I go updating to 10 to activate and then installing Win10 fresh.
