Cost

Okay, I have a guy looking for a new illustrator and they do some insanely large houses.

My father-in-law asked me if I'm really busy because I'm not charging enough, so I want to get an honest feel for what this quality of work is worth. So, if you feel like being honest, what do you think this is worth? And, knowing my work, can I produce this quality of work or am I over my head?

I see Forest Pro grass, some Evermotion trees, so it might be someone from this forum who created these.

they are very symmetrical and the views are different point of views of the same elevation... I don't think they are difficult or complicate.

but you still can charge big money because they are big houses and the images are very important to sell the houses for big money as well.

They could be improved quite a bit, still look very CG to me

I appreciate the support guys, really? What about? Lets say, just for the exteriors you see in the post? He wants interior too, but for the exercise, just the exteriors.

Well, how many full time days would it take to do X
Then work out cost based on your ideal day rate.

Then add some.

That's how I usually address fees. I have a base rate (a rate I can't go under to make it worth my time) and I multiple it by how many days it'll take me to complete it, plus some.

Thanks, guys. I just email him back. Basically, I gave him my base rate, which is what I can't go below, and I multiplied it by how many days it would take me to complete it. I estimated it would take me about 3-4 weeks for the exterior and I would give him several views. Interiors are a little more complicated, but I gave him some ranges. Exterior for this house would be about $10,000 (I actually gave him a number a little below that).

What do you think? Worth it or not?

He asked about them supplying the model and how much would that save them? I explained that I have not had luck using someones's model and I spend more time cleaning things up, however, I have had a few models that were great. Do you guys discount for models being supplied to you?

Nope, usually more work using somebody elses model because 90% of the time the model is terrible.

true, models rarely help. although I sometimes get half decent sketchup model from architects.
