  • Constant Unresponsive

I know it's a moot point complaining, but I am not sure I can take the 3DS MAX Unresponsive crap anymore. I mean, come one! I have to crash out of MAX 2-3 times a day, it is ridiculous. This is really expensive software and it performs like some freeware. Is it me, or is everyone experiencing this?

    Hi Bobby,
daily bread on our end too :-/ not only crashes but constantly different UI everytime i open max.
2016 is one of the worst versions of all time i have to say....not to mention the BB crap were getting every year.
Whats more troublesome that by this time of year we woudl get a preview of 2017...the silence about 2017 makes me worried.
And bear in mind that in EU we pay twice as much for the soft as you do

Pop on to the max beta and have a look at 2017! They welcome more testers and feedback.

We'll at least I am not alone. It would be interesting to calculate how much money the software really costs its users. I lose at least 2 hours a day.

And swapping from shaded to wire takes about 15 seconds, each time, which is extremely annoying and makes me want to scream.

Imagine a car manufacture that makes a car that stalls 3-4 times a day. Now imagine that, that car company bought out all the other car companies and you don't have any other choices. How long would delivery companies put up with it? Or, people die because ambulances are always left stranded. It's amazing what we put up with and think is 'normal'.

4~5 crashes a day seems pretty average here.

I recently had to wipe max and reinstall, had the same problem with wire/shaded switch taking ages. It also had insane lag in some scenes on every action. I'm talking like click on an object, wait 30 seconds while it's frozen and then same thing for the next action. Weird thing is that it happened to roughly half of my scenes and not others.
After a lot of cursing and losing half of what's left of my hair, I tried a reinstall and it started working normally again... not sure how long that will last though

Hmm I have the same issue with the wire/shading switch taking ages. Might consider reinstall but my god all the scripts/plugins/...I don't think I want to :/

http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/sc...xscriptmanager this looked promising, but doesn't work (anymore).

SketchUp has a wonderfull script/plugin manager, natively and also from the sketchucation network. With every reinstall, you just login and select what package of plugins (you can have different packages on different computers) you want installed. 20 seconds later and everything is back where it was before (except for custom toolbars, can't be saved).

Bummer. At least we know it can be done. We just need someone to do it.

3rd freeze today and it is only 9:00 am. I bet if I record how often MAX stops responding, it'll be a lot more than I think. Freeze, crash, restart, is just part of my day.

I haven't got that many crashes though. Freezes when I switch between wireframe and shaded but not that much crashes. Any scenes that have these issues more than others or is it all the same?

When I say crash, I mean task manager to kill it because I can't wait 5-10 min., each time, for it to recover.

Switching from wire to shaded can take a few seconds but not 15... I'm having a good experience with max 2016 which I left in SP1 mode.
Crashes happen of course, but rarely I have to say. Though on my lastest big project, max suddenly reseted the UI, I almost cried.

I've experienced some severe lag when cancelling render but I was using Vizpark W&T. But after lowering viewport baked procedural map resolution, everything was smooth again.

A script/plugin manager would be awesome... Maybe one day
