  • Blender 2.8

Hey, guys. Do you follow the development of Blender 2.8? The new EEVEE viewport looks sick! It seems to be very useful for high-quality real-time previews. Would Vray materials show correctly in the viewport if the viewoprt engine is set to EEVEE?

    More info: https://code.blender.org/2017/03/eevee-roadmap/

    Check out some videos:

Nice! What do you think about Blender 2.8? Is it worthy competitor to Max? How do you find Eevee in general and the other improvements in 2.8?

              Here's some other demos:

I have to say, I'm totally impressed by Blender... I am deeply disappointed by max
That said, I have to deepen Blender before saying anything

I do like the stuff coming out from Blender, however, coming from a Max workflow that spans from the DOS days of 3D Studio right through to 2019, I just cant wrap my head around Bledner's interface and workflow. I tried Blender 10 years back and I was utterly frustrated with it. Has much changed in terms of workflow and interface since then? (not asking about features or capabilities, just general workflow)
                      Kind Regards,
                      Morne

2.8 will change UI and , for example, the left select "standard" is already available.

The beauty of Blender is that you can try by yourself the situation without any kind of registration or installer or auto updater trojan tool or some collecting data analizer tool....so I suggest to test it.
Go to https://builder.blender.org/download/ and select the Blender 2.8 zip file (the master one is the nightly build of the 2.79).

I'm not using the 2.8 but I'm following the development and it seems a big change and a good start point for further development.
In any case, you don't have to consider this release as a "final release"... when Blender changed from 2.49 to 2.5, the first release was really really different from what we have now with 2.79

As occasionally user of 2.79 (also for some jobs as in-production tests) I'm very interested to come back to use Blender for my daily job.

As bardo said, Blender 2.8 is vastly different from Blender from 10 years ago. Here are some videos of the new look, interface and functionality that shows that it is now really up to par with other 3D software in terms of usability.

Not 2.8 probably. Don't lynch me.
