I tried not to be condescending From what I read, no, no real bug fixes.

There's a few fixes to some core components, and a UI bug fix too. Remember 2018.2 only just came out that had like 800 bug fixes!

That isn't settling that a 20 year old product had 800 bug fixes. I read this on the Autodesk forum as some kind of, job well done, but who screwed it up so bad that it had 800 bugs? It would be like me sending out an image that was totally screwed up and wanting kudos from my client for me cleaning up my own mess. I would try to hide the fact that I screwed up so bad and not announce it to the world.

Maybe a few years too late with this feature. The only thing this is going to achieve is making people realise they need to buy a proper fluids plugin.

My MAX 2017 just lost the ability to know its shortcuts, so I am updating my 2018 to see if I can use it. The last I tried, it was not usable.

Yet, it still crashes on me when doing even the simplest things like adding modifiers and opening/closing groups... I reverted back to 2016 - no crashes at all. I'm not touching 2018 again unless it's a life or death situation.

that 'waterfall' looks terrible. not much better than a plane with some noise on it....
absolute rubbish and i bet its unusable

                    motion field makes sense though

what i dont understand is: what on earth happened to Naiad?

it was the future!! probably the second most respected piece of fluid sim software after houdini.. capable of vast water simulations at full hollywood levels...

Autodesk bought it.. and somehow they have managed to turn it into a toy fluid simulator? as stated above, that waterfall looks absolutely appaling, and i dont see anything to worry phoenix..

The guys who make ad's promotion and tutorial material often seem to not know what they're doing. Remembering the horrible bbm tutorial where he teaches neils technique to paint dirt on a model without uv's and forget to turn the underlying rendering off in PS, so he reprojects the highlights and shadows from the first rendering onto the model again. Maybe you could get a better waterfall out of it. But you're right no worries for phoenix.

How are people so positive on that link, it`s like propaganda or mind control. At least you brought 1 voice of dissent. I`m willing to bet the double click UI bug isn`t fixed, their own release notes list 3 fixes. Yay ?

I don't have a double click issue. I did have to replace my 4K monitor with a 2K monitor, at least if I wanted to continue to make a living. I am not sure why the got rid of that top menu with the save icon. Now, I have to pull down the File menu or use CTRL+S.

Really ? If you open 2018, open render settings window, now click on a drop down menu (eg. output size) then click in a viewport or modifier window, now click on the same drop down menu, does it not ping straight off forcing you to click again to make a change in that menu ?
Strange thing is it`s only certain drop down menus, The renderer, target, preset, view to render drop-downs are fine. Vray drop-down menus also seem affected. Bugs the hell out of me ! heh.
