  • Help with opacity map with multiple instances

I'm trying to put multiple plane objects (leaves) on a poly object (tree)
So the leaf is a plane with an opacity map and it looks fine by it self.
But when I try putting numerous instances of it on the tree surface (I get the same problem with a PF Source Array Object and using the Scatter Compound Object) the opacity map isn't working anymore.

    Here's an image:

You can see the single leaf and the array.

I also tried using the Hair And Fur Modifier on the tree with the leaf as an Instance Node, but then I can't assign seperate materials to the tree and the leaves at all.

    I'm using 3DS Max 9.0 and Vray v1.50.

    Please help!

Is it possible to send me this scene to vlado@chaosgroup.com so that I can check what may be wrong?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

You'd be better off posting this in the "Problems" forum than the "Public" Forum.
        www.dpict3d.com - "That's a very nice rendering, Dave. I think you've improved a great deal." - HAL9000... At least I have one fan.

There seem to be quite a few posts here that belong in other forums, where it's their first post. Are people really so blatant or am I assuming the worst?

                Never mind

Never mind, just emptied the opacity slot for the material and put the map back in again and now it's hunky dory.

The problem was that the opacity texture mapping type was set to "Planar from Object XYZ"... switch this to "Explicit map channel" and all is fine.

                    Ooops

                    I see.
I accidentally fixed it 10 minutes ago.
                    Thank you for your help.
