Just playing around with the demo... is it possible to mix 2 different phoenixfdoceantex's in a mix map or similar in order to get areas of sea where it is rougher or calmer?
put both the ocean textures into the sots of a comp texture, create second comp texture and put in the first slot the first comp texture and in the second slot the noise
why you need that?
sorry, maybe I wasnt clear, I want the noise map to act as a mask between two different ocean textures. So that I can have some areas of ocean quite still, and other areas with more waves.
one suggestion - try to add reflection highlights to the water material, the attached image is made with this option and i think it makes the scenes with visible sun significantly better
I'm not allowed to view the image.. i can attached my water material if you want, i think it was the same as on the chaosgrouptv ocean texture tutorial
here is a screenshot showing two renders with different highlights, and the material setup.
the default value of the reflections setup produces very small occasional sun reflections on the water, but you know in real water the sun reflections look much larger. this happens for two reasons:
- there is a small random element in the reflected rays
- the sun surface is VERY VERY bright, and because our eyes are not 100% ideal, a small and bright spot produces large bright area on the retina.
