oh maybee its because the subdivisions is set higher than bounces ?
i kind of remember there being some problem a while back...try with 6 bounces and 2 subs and see if that helps
the other thing is that using area isnt the best filter to be using. for stills, try catmull-rom and for anims try mitchell-natravelli (or however u spell that)
