It would be nice to have a light modifier set how it will react to ior. Let say yor light ior reaction is differed a little like a ior multiplier. In that case you could use 3 light_ R,G,B from the same spot and render them all out at the same time

I saw a decent tut on this ages ago. But for the life of me I cant find it.

But I did stumble across this site. So if you want to be lazy and not make your own diamond you can actually download one of many different shapes and sizes

i know at some point someone created a multi blend material that split up all the rgb components within the material. It looked pretty decent.

                            This is another approach,

                            rendered 6 different colored lights/refractions:
                            Code:
                            255 0 0 red
                            255 255 0 yellow
                             0 255 0 green
                             0 255 255 cyan
                             0 0 255 blue
                            255 0 255 magenta
                            merged the renderings in photoshop

you can see, it is just a matter of making more renderings to smooth things out, though this is already pretty decent.
