only one thing is missing for me

the possibility to do such greate renderings with Photonmapping
i think right now this works only with irradiance map. right ?

would be grate to be able to use all max lights with photonmapping, because it seems to be much faster than irradiance maps for vray.

never the less a greate tutorial

I tried the file in the other post and nothing happened. Does this work with VRAY free?

          Hi Natty

          Really good tutorial. Thanks

I wonder if you or anyone else can help me some more. Basically I have a room in which i have placed two colums of parallel spots (Following your tutorial.)

The room is a long, thin conference room and i want it quite bright, but I am struggling with this. Basically I would be very grateful to see how you would go about lighting a room like this. It has windows, though I want the shutters closed to get an idea of the room lit without sunlight.

Have seen plenty of excellent images produced with sunlight pouring through windows, but none with good interior lighting of a room without.

Your image is of course great, but not bright enough for say a conference room, what kind of lights should i add?

          Any help is much appreciated!

                        Natty
Sorry no luck with my hotmail account and max file attachment

For my rendering i've opted to open the blinds and let light in using directions from your vray light tut. in conjuntion with spot lights. Working very well.

You might be able to see what i was getting at with my previous request though. Your scene using photometric lights was very dark. I would like a room with a couple of rows of spots that one could work in, tryed ramping up the settings, but this just resulted in bleached walls, also tryed adding a vray light to the ceiling of the room, but the ceiling ended up either too bright (with two sided vray light) or too dark (one sided.)
also the vray light with the ies lights also caused bleaching.

Big ask Nat but any chance of a tutorial on a room without windows (or dark outside) lit like the room im working in now e.g. basic 100 watt bulb.

Feel free to tell me to sod off

                          Gander0:
Have you tried zipping or raring your max file before sending it to natty. I will make it like a tenth of the original size, max files compress very very well.

Thanks for the reply. Wow that RAR compression does cut size down loads, still to big to send via any of my accounts though. Hotmail will tries to get me to give them some money and that will only allow me to send 3mb files anyway. This ones 3.3mb

from my experince raring is far better commpression then zip......
