    Yea, I often do that. Apply low res textures in the main diffuse channel as that's the texture that will be saved with the SketchUp file. Then I make that transparent with TexAColor and add a high-res diffuse underneath - which is just linked to the file on disk. Make the SketchUp model much more responsive.
    Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

            No, you have to load a 0,0,0 white "TexAColor" into the transparency slot. This tricks SU into displaying the Diffuse Layer 1 low-res texture while V-Ray renders the Diffuse Layer 2 high-res texture. It also means your skp file will be much smaller as only the low-res texture is saved while the high-res one is simply linked. Because of this however, it can make moving skp files across networks complicated as all linked files and paths must be replicated.
