  • URGENT! NO ACTIVE PRODUCTS?????? Gui License error (-200): -200: The Chaos License Server could not be reached.

I don't use 3DS Max much these days but I've got an urgent request to create a render, yet when I fired up 3DS Max 2023 (or 2022) I have issues with vRay licensing......

I am getting nothing on the page http://localhost:30304/#/ when I try to open it in my browser.

I then go to to take a look at my products at my.chaos.com and I get a page saying "Oops something went wrong - we couldn't load your products".

    Can anyone on here help?

    Thank you.

Okay, I've gotten it to work (for now!) - but I think the VRLService needs to be started automatically each time I restart my computer, but currently I'm having to and double-click on C:\Program Files\Chaos\VRLService\start.bat

How can I set this up so that I don't have to start the service manually?

    Thanks.

      Hello Jez,

If you have urgent issues that need to be addressed as quickly as possible by the Chaos support, please open an official ticket via our Help Center here.

The Chaos license server requires Windows to be able to generate its UUID (Universally unique identifier) in order to work. If Windows cannot generate its UUID the Chaos license server will not be able to start. It seems like the problem stems from there

Please check if your OS can generate the UUID, open Command Prompt (CMD) and use the following command wmic csproduct get UUID

If Windows cannot generate the UUID, please open Command Prompt with Administrator privileges and use the commands listed in the following article one after the other:

      https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/a...erate-its-UUID

Reinstall the Chaos license server afterwards and try to access http://localhost:30304. If this doesn't help or Windows can generate the UUID but the issue is still present, please open a ticket so that we can contact you directly. You can download the server from the following link

        Hello,

The Chaos license server before version 6.0 was working as a service. Since we released version 6, the Chaos license server is working as a process which should automatically start once you log in Windows.
If you are using Chaos license server version 6, please add it in your Windows Startup apps:

            Hi Nikolay,

It has now worked, what I did was create a shortcut to C:\Program Files\Chaos\VRLService\start.bat that seems to have done it - would you say that's the best way?

For version 6 the best way would be the one suggested by Nikolay, to make sure that Chaos License Server Supervisor is enabled in Winodws's Startup Apps.

How can I get rid of this Command Prompt dialog box on startup?

The bath file should work just fine for you, its strange that you don't have the supervisor at all in startup apps. Perhaps a re install of the license server will do the trick but if its working for you like this I'm not sure that's really needed. Regarding the command prompt that refuses to disappear check that thread:
