  • Spaceship re-entry heat shield effect?

    Hi frens,
i'm fiddling with a spaceship re-entry heat shield effect like in the attached pic.

I started with the jet engine preset but i'm kinda stuck with the start or main setup to do it.
Any tips from you guys how to approach it? thx in advance!

I'm wondering how or what the emitter should be.
Emitting from the Z-Axis of the shield itself and then blowing it with a wind force?
Not really looking cool right now...

    Hey,

Indeed - the Plain force idea sounds good. Here is a sample file using the Jet engine preset as a base - I just removed the discharge modifier, adjusted the emission to be weaker and made the source emit only from the back side.

    Hope this helps!

Do you have one for Maya that you could provide? I don't have Max.

Sure, here is a Maya version of the scene.

          Cheers!

That's pretty cool Georgi. I could use this for another project coming up.
