  • Strange artifacts on corners and edges

    Hi,

I'm working on a scene where I need an object to come out of the Ocean but when I tested with a very simple scene where I bring a sphere out I have strange artifacts on the edges and corners where particles just pop in and out like crazy. I've attached a rendered preview to show the problem I'm facing. Is this a bug or some setting I missed. I'm using the latest night build for Max 2016 with default setting in Phoenix. I have this problem with Ocean and Cap. There is also some craziness going on under the water but you can't see it in this preview.

    Ali

Sure it's 1605146769. I've been trying all day and what I came up with is that in order to get rid of these strange particles I have to increase SPF to 3 and above but I don't have them when I do the simulation in Mesh mode even with SPF=1 but in Ocean and cap I have to get SPF to 3 and higher

Yup, raising the SPF is the way to fix such instabilities. Or raising the unit scale.

wait wait, this needs special attention. if the rendering mode changes the behavior, this means the simulation is not involved here, perhaps bug of the ocean meshing mode, can you attach a test with mesh mode?

Alright, we reproduced the issue - there is a bug indeed. Will update you when a fix is ready.

            Cheers!

good to know you guys are working on it. Thanks. I've attached what Ivaylo asked for don't know if it makes a difference now since you already know what the problem is it's the same simulation but was simulated with Mesh mode
